WEDNESDAY, May 28 (HealthDay news) — Researchers have confirmed that a certain type of cell provides a "hideout" for HIV during drug treatment and is a reservoir of HIV in humans.

These follicular dendritic cells (FDCs) are located throughout the body in specialized sites known as lymphoid tissues, said researchers at Brigham Young University and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.

FDCs act viewed like "vaults" to store material needed to maintain the immune system's legions of antibodies.

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - As mental booster vaccines in young children, the DTaP vaccine, which protects against diphtheria, tetanus, and whooping cough, can be combined with the inactivated poliovirus (IPV) vaccine without reducing the effectiveness of either, new research shows.

"When given as a booster dose to 4-6 year olds," senior investigator Dr. Nicola P. Klein told Reuters Health, "a combined vaccine (is as safe and effective as) separate injections of DTaP and IPV."

Klein of the Kaiser Permanente Vaccine Study Center, Oakland, California and colleagues studied more than 4200 children who were randomly assigned to receive the DTaP-IPV complot or DTaP and IPV given separately.

WASHINGTON - Old-fashioned asthma inhalers that hold environment-harming chemicals will quit selling at year’s end — and the government is urging patients not to wait until the last minute to switch to newer alternatives.

Patients use inhalers that dispense airway-relaxing albuterol during asthma attacks.

Chemicals called chlorofluorocarbons, or CFCs, once were widely used to propel the deaden with narcotics into the lungs. But CFC-containing consumer products are being phased out because CFCs damage the Earth’s protective ozone layer. As of Dec.

THURSDAY, May 29 (HealthDay news) — Dried tomatoes, anyone?

A study in the June 1 issue of Cancer Research finds that the type of tomato product you eat may play a role in whether it can fight prostate cancer.

Specifically, an organic carbohydrate known as FruHis, which is produced when tomatoes are dehydrated, could be the secret ingredient.

But the study only looked at animals and, the authors warned, FruHis is not expert for the doctor's office or medicine cabinet just yet.

"This study was conducted in a desert one’s party model, and you cannot possibly draw any conclusions for people," said study author Valeri Mossine, a research assistant professor of biochemistry at the University of Missouri.
